I am wondering about how you as a collector feel about keeping Susan B Anthony, Sacagawea, and Presidential coins when $1 roll searching. I am familiar with the errors of each but not convinced the to keep the better grades. Do you keep keep any of these if so which are your favorite? I dislike the presidential $ and they all go back to the bank. I am mostly a half dollar and pennies.
I have my coin folders and they are very close to completion. Once done, the remaining coins are only worth spending.
Bought a set of the Suzie's 35 years in a Capital plastic holder. i think it's got both T.1 T.2 S mint proofs. Since then a couple of more years added. Never caught up. Might do it one day.
Top grades in all of them are worth keeping if you can grade them accurately, but this is especially true for the SBAs
If you are roll searching them and saving the nicer ones will not effect the household budget why not? Its your collection, collect what you like.
I don't collect errors or variants, but I have completed my books and keep the ones I find in the wild to give to the nieces and nephews.
Dollar coins? Unless you are buying them by the rolls, one doesn't see them in circulation. I've heard that cashiers don't even have a place in the registers any more, so just toss them aside to be sent to the bank later.
I don't save the Presidential ones except for those Presidents that were from my state (Ohio), especially William McKinley, since he called my home town (Canton) his home for much of his life. Most of the Presidential portraits are HORRIBLE in my opinion. The others...it depends. I don't save SBAs but I do like some of the Native American dollars.
