I saw a black dot on this coin while I was pulling it from the snap tite back to the 20 roll holder. I decided to see if I could get it off and ended up scratching the surface. Now, Im holding these coins for the simple bullion value, not for condition value. So does the obvious scratch matter to say a dealer or someone I would sell bullion to?

I do want to keep them in the best condition so I use a 100% cotton cloth to handle them. I had another single 2005 to replace that one in the roll so thats all good.

I also scratched the area just below the hyphen between the word "silver" and "one" in the bottom southeast corner.

btw, the bulk of the scratching was just the frosting being taken off.

    edit: Am I being paranoid?

At some point in time, perhaps not far into the future, silver will be "hot" again as it was in the early 1980s. That will be the time to unload your less than perfect silver a prices much higher than today. Condition probably won't matter except as a minor bargaining point because many of these coins will be melted.

I mentally divide silver coins into keepers and traders.

But keep in mind that this is just my opinion, and it is worth what you paid for it. :)

I appreciate your opinion. I get a little neurotic about something when I screw it up.

My coin collecting side says "doh!!!" but then my bullion collecting side says, "o well, it's still worth $7.00/oz"

Well, time to get ready for work. Be back chatting in about 3 weeks.
