I have a question about, you probably already read the title, normal, circulating coins. When are the nickels produced every year (in this case, 2015 P nickels)? Last time I got a nickel box, it was quite disappointing because every single one of the rolls was a shiny 2015 P, but the good thing was they were mostly all in AU condition . I'm really looking forward to opening a nickel box sometime, but don't want to risk the chances of ending up with the new nickels, instead I could just wait till a couple months after they have already been released in circulation.
They were probably laying in the vault sent from a distributor, you could always try buying whatever the teller has in their drawer, they'll usually have rolls brought in by customers
I don't know. But you just have to ask the teller if they have customer wrapped rolls. They probably won't mind. Of the bank has good customer service, they'll gladly look for the brown paper ones, and they might even remember someone bringing in some.
The mint's fiscal year ends in June if I remember correctly, so coins dated for the following year may start being produced at any time after that. At the least they always start producing them before Jan. so that they can start releasing them in Jan. of the new year. That said they also continue to produce them (all denominations) at various intervals until it is time to start over again.
Doug is correct but typically they don't start coining and stockpiling them until sometime in December (Silver eagles typically start earlier, sometimes as early as September) But typically coins are rotated from stock at the Fed/Armored car services on a First In First Out basis so they may be delivered to the banks any time from Jan 2 to weeks or months later. All depends on how much stockpile they have on hand.
