I have a collection of PCGS graded Modern Commemorative Proof Dollars. I have been thinking about selling it and using the money for other numismatic intrests. My question is what is the best way to sell this set? Do I split it up, sell it together? Ebay, try and sell here, contact Heritage? I have never sold something like this before. Your opinion is much appreciated.

Here is a link to my PCGS Registry page.

I would recommend contacting Great Collections for the consigning of them.

    Edit to add....
Be sure that they have a reserve when auctioned or some may be gone at melt value.

That is a very cool collection- the fact that it is the #6 collection probably adds value. Just for fun list it on Ebay for one money- include a ton of pics and do a 30 day "buy it now" with a very high price and a "make an offer" option. Be patient- "buy it now's" do not usually sell until you are 20-30 days into them. You will get a bunch of silly low-ball offers but someone will probably shot you a fair price toward the end. What the heck give it a try- you may get top dollar

just curious what would you like to get out of that set? (if you don't mind saying)

Well ebay might be the best bet as mentioned. Selling it as a set might work. It all depends on how quick you want the money.

You can contact heritage to see what they would do for you - they provided me a list of the highs and lows for each coin. Keep in mind they decide which auctions they go into and you might want to ask them about that. Now for me they dropped the sellers premium to 5%. It never hurts to ask them plenty of questions - with heritage you don't have too much to worry about other than the sell price. I am not sure how reserve prices work with them - I did not set any. I was pleased with the results and all I did was ship them the coins. Then about 45 days later(I can't remember the actual number of days, but think that is it) they send you a check.

The worst option would be to take it to a local dealer - you would get your money quicker, but a whole lot less. I would not recommend this unless you have to sell quick for an emergency.

I paid $6000. I wouldn't want to take less than $5000 for it after fees (is that unreasonable?). Don't need the money, my intrests strayed toward older coins.

well under $100 a coin- that sounds reasonable
