A lot of my fathers coins in PCGS holders display his last name and then say coll. I haven't seen any coins besides his that have this. I'd ask him about it, but he's in puerto rico at the moment. Anyone have any idea why this is?

I should also mention, that I am pretty sure he sold some of these coins and bought them back, which is why I am confused as to why his name would be on it after the fact.

I say that he paid to have them Pedigreed with his name...and then the next owner didn't want to pay for them to be re-holdered.

Or else his collection was sold at an auction and the auction house had them re-holdered and pedigreed. That happens a lot. The Coll stands for collection BTW - as in the Joe Smith Collection.

He sold 50+ 1793 liberty caps at an auction in 2002, and those are the ones I've been seeing with his name on the holder.
