I constantly see "original rolls" of morgan dollars on ebay. Did they ever roll morgan dollars? If so, how is it that these original rolls are never bank sealed? I smell deception.

Yeah, there were bank rolls of Morgans. I can even remember seeing them when I was a kid, and that's not all THAT long ago

But you need to keep in mind, there was a time when shotgun rolls did not exist. All we had was rolls with folded ends. So there was no way to seal them. And the coins were placed in the rolls by the banks from bags - that's how the banks got them, in bags.

But there were also collectors & dealers who rolled Morgans, there still are.

Thanks for the information. Most of the rolls I see I feel have been cherrypicked, and then had the good coins replaced with lesser ones. I'd have to see a roll in hand before I'd consider buying it I think.
