I have some folder of coins such as wheats, Mercury dimes, and 20th century type set. I have notice where some of the coins are getting wear on them and losing their luster. I guess from touching the other coin or the inside of the folder. Is their anything I could do or put in them to stop it? Thanks

Yeah, take them out of the folder and put them in quality, individual coin holders.

Similar things happen with any folder or album. Which is why they are bad for coins.

It isn't likely they are acquiring wear but the coins can be toning resulting in a dulling of the luster.

I think the only folders worth owning, if you must have them, are the ones that have plastic slides protecting the coins. These ONLY if you will put the coin in once and leave it, and they are not high value or circulated already. Folders look nice, but do have severe disadvantages to other storage mediums.

I have a few of the older types of folders, but I use them for storage only, and mainly bought the coins in these holders to begin with. If I am serious about a coin I put it in a 2x2 safety flip.

In other words, Doug is right. :)

I use folders for circulated coins, but for my nicer examples, I use albums. The folders I use have a sheet that goes in between the first fold over, thus no coin ever truly touches each other. But that being said, they are circulated so they've been handled numerous times...lol
