I was working on some listings I'm putting on Ebay. You now have am option to use AI to describe your item. Does Ebay charge for that?

As far as I know, it is a free tool. You just click on it and it generates a description (which you can edit if you want).

Thanks. I just don't want to pay Ebay more than they deserve.

It's free, but it really screws up some of the finer details from what I've seen or misses Big details entirely. I just write my own description. The AI description fills up the box, but just regurgitates the details you put in the title and specifics.

How can you tell the difference between the usual garbage eBay listings and the AI-generated hallucinations???????

AI will not be a good thing for many things. IMO!

It's a tool. It has a place. LLMs can generate text that reads correctly, which is an improvement.

Twas mimsy and the slithy tove also reads correctly.

Like any tool it can be used or misused. A fool and a tool is still a fool.

(LLMs are not true GPAI... but the AI term has been stolen)
