I realize I have no idea what I'm doing when I purchase coins online or anywhere for that matter...I think these have been cleaned. Do you think so too? If so, are they still worth anything since they were minted CC? I've got them now so if they are worthless too late I guess.

Most of them look really nice to me, the image in the top right corner may have been cleaned a while ago, but they look nice as a whole, and are definitely not worthless, CC Morgans have always been a hot item!

Start from the basics. What makes you think they are cleaned?

I think the 78 is cleaned, and that the 90 & 92 are fine.

The 78 is unquestionably cleaned. The others are not. However, do not believe the grades written on the 2x2s, as they are not accurate.

I thought the 1890 was for sure because it's dull gray? I was reading somewhere and they were saying that was a sign ? I wasn't for sure on the other two.

I paid the most for the 78 . How would most ppl rate these? Is the 92 fine to very fine? I thought it was atleast fine? The 1890 looked fine atleast to me? Is that correct thinking? I thought the 78 was good to fine somewhere in between . Just curious as to how off I am since I'm a beginner.

    My thoughts-
    1892CC- F15
    1890CC- VF20 (barely) , rim bump
1878CC- Fine+ range but cleaned and buffed.

Dumb question? I've been reading which on the internet is dangerous...but if a coin has been cleaned eventually will it be acceptable again? Years later?

It’s possible but not assured and depends what happened when it was clean. It’s not something I would count on

I didn't even notice that rim bump, that coin I purchased but haven't received yet. I guess I'm not observant...but I looked at the coin several times, didn't notice that. Bummer

A coin that is hairlined or polished will not "heal" enough to overcome the damage, though the appearance may improve. Lighter cleanings will sometimes retone enough to become acceptable. To me the '78 obverse looks buffed or smoothed somehow so I really can't hold out much hope for that one...JMO.

So basically I've done reallllly bad on these purchases! The 78 has been buffed and cleaned, the 1890 is no good because of the bump...I googled lol and nicks are ok but bumps are catastrophic! I guess you live and you learn

Really I don't see the rim damage as a huge issue considering the grade of the coin. I've seen much worse. :) I can't say how you did, not knowing what you paid.... But CC's like the better two here are desirable coins to a lot of hobbyists.

Its not a dumb question at all! All old coins are acceptable, cleaned ones are just worth a bit less. Over the course of years natural, darker color will develop on coins.

The 90 looks fine for it's grade. You can always get graded coins though if its a concern

The texture you want to look for is a pale, glossy gray. Look at your 1878. That is the color you want to avoid. Also look at its sheen, which I have heard called "slick". When cleaned coin do retone, they sometimes retain that sheen.

The 1890 CC is a dull gray, and that is what you want to look for in original coins. Study that coin closely.

The 1892 CC just looks odd. It has probably been cleaned, but I would like to see it in hand first.
