    hello to everyone great forum
i have been to many diffrent bank's in my area.asking if they had any of the new nickel's yet.and the response i get WHAT NEW NICKEL

this just seemed strange to me that a bank has no idea of new coin's
you would think they would know ...right??

Nope - bank employees, unless they are collectors, seldom know at all if or when new coins are scheduled to be released.

And, if they do know, they are instructed to play dumb as the banks (most of them) absolutely do not cater to coin collectors or coins. They don't want them, don't want the labor involved, don't want to roll and count and don't want to store them. They do WANT to make money off of you/us but that is about the extent of it. I have offered to pay up front for Sacagawea dollars but, due to the fact they are afraid they will get them back, they refuse to order. Now most of the local banks just say "We can't get them!" Basically they are speaking like a bunch of politicians with other things on their minds!

Well I've had pretty good experience at just about all the banks I've gone to. I asked my dad a few months ago that when he went to the bank next that he ask the teller for old style notes and the teller checked her entire drawer and found none and even went to another teller and she checked her entire drawer. They found none but they did try. I remember a year ago when I got 9 rolls of pennies at a Well's Fargo that were rolled from 1975-1983 I went back and showed the teller an old wrapper and he was nice enough to check and even ask other tellers. They found no others that were alike but that is besides the point. No I am not a member of Well's Fargo btw. Every time I've gone to a bank to get rolls of pennies I've asked for as many as 20 rolls and every single time the banks have come through and sometimes they went digging in their vaults and only once has a teller asked if I was a member and I said no but she still went back and got them. Only twice have I gone to a bank bringing back some rolls of pennies have they asked if I was a member and one said it was their policy not to accept rolls from non-members but she looked the other way and took them from me anyways.
By golly this may be the largest single post I have ever made. :)

My parent's local bank is actually refusing to order them stating that the "quarter thing" has been too much of a pain already.

As I have made it a practice to always share with my friendly local teller, the latest coinage as I receive it, usually several weeks before they appear at the bank. She in turn always calls me when they do get in, so that I may load up on additional rolls to spend around town and help spread the joy of collecting. ;)

Okay if a bank refuses to reasonably help you when they are making money off of your savings and deposits than what you can simply do is threaten to FIRE them and if they continue to refuse actually do it and take your savings else where.
