Hi everyone, I've heard about these coins recently and was really excited about it. Yet some facts remain unclear, and I'm looking for the answers. Firstly, it's obvious that there is a gap in the number of different coins minted (from 125 to 1000 or even unlimited). How can it be explained and what factors are touched? Secondly, can't really grasp why the websites give discordant facts about the mintage of a particular coin. For example, here https://www.lpm.hk/2017-1-kg-britain-queen-s-beasts-the-lion-of-england-999-silver-proof-coin.html they say that the coin is available in quantity of 600, but on the official site http://www.royalmint.com/shop/U/UK17QBSK it is the number of only 350 that has been mentioned. I would also like to know if there exists any collector who can clarify things about the order of mintage concerning the proof and bullion versions. It would be really nice and helpful. Could you please give me some details or point towards any resources where I could find the necessary info? Profoundly grateful in advance!
Notice in your first link the website list both 600 and 350 as the mintage. 600 on the right side of the page and 350 on the left side. Since the 350 matches the Royal Mint site the 600 is probably a typo.
For the Kilo Proof Lion the specification part mentions that the total mintage is 600, but only 350 are available in the special packaging (box) that is seen in your second link. Many Mints have done this where part of the mintage is sold in a special set (or box) while the rest is sold individually or in a different set.
The first link also seems to be in the special box. Same box is pictured and it states that it comes in the box with certificate and the same booklet mentioned in the second link. I still suspect a typo.
