I had spoke of this in the past but I might try it now. That is, CRHing Quarters. My little experiment invovles doing 10 boxes of Quarters to see if I find anything worthwile. I think in the last year I've done about 4 boxes of Quarters and did land 1 Silver Quarter. And I know Quarters have been picked over real well, but is it possble that there are silver Quarter dumps sitting out there in boxes as well (muck like halves or Buffalo nickels) that people find from time to time? If I recall there was a searcher on here awhile back that did Quarters for a little bit and he said most of his best finds came from buying bags. Anybody up for doing any Quarter Boxes? Merc about how often do you search Quarters and how many total boxes would you say you've looked thru?
I'm up to ten boxes this year with only three to show for it, and two were in one box... skunk, skunk, skunk... Tellers have told me they rarely see silver quarters, and when they do, they pull them right away, so...
Well so far you're results are lookng better then mine. But I still have 4 boxes to go before I hit 10. That being said I"m not too optimistic that I'd catch you. I'm now at 6 boxes total, as I did 2 today, and both were skunks. I've got only 1 Silver to show for. I think I"ll grab a box every now and then, but I won't make them priority by no means.
Yeah, I don't, I just pick one up when I have an extra $500 to use. Got a '64 today out of a box, so that makes 11 boxes and 4 silvers. Another thing someone told me, when you're hunting for silver quarters, you have a higher chance of stumbling on a dumped cache of those than dimes... which I kind of believe.
The only two silver quarters I have found were in my very first single roll. I haven't found one since, but I've only done about $800- $1000 worth of loose rolls.
I have found 5. I just traded those 5 for my 1932-D, however 3 came from rolls. 2 were BWR, one was CWR. The other 2 were a teller tray and a change box on the counter of a store, a silver dime was right on top of the silver quarter.
