quarter/is this cud?

Hi all saved up a few for questions I few more but I will give it a few days. This has a chunk of metal on in raised just a tad higher then the lettering from the rim.

A cud is a die break ON the rim and extends INTO the field.

oh and the rim shows no hit dings or dents. could this have been a chip that broke off and was struck through?

It's just a die break. These are common and not really worth anything except to bidiots.
