I sent in 5 ASE 2010 Proofs and all of them graded NGC PF70 UC. I didn't even bother looking them over with a loupe (don't even have one) before I sent them in. I basically just wanted to familiarize myself with the grading process and was totally expecting to get 69s or less. After hearing about all the problem coins (haziness, chips etc) I think I'm pretty lucky.
Well it's close to a 50/50 chance anymore that you'll get back a 69 or 70... you paid enough for it, they might as well please the public and keep raking in the easy money made from grading fees. All the same, congrats on your return. Now you just have to sell them before there are so many out there the value decreases.
I would hate it to have a coin graded 69; almost perfect but not quite, and there is nothing in your power you can do to make it FDC.
If you cracked em' out and sent them in tomorrow, they'd all be 69's. Lots of things with grading companies are pure luck. You know, what would really be lucky is if a grading company could consistently follow it's own standards. I agree with a few statements that are above.Would be wise to sell a few, and maybe get some of the money you spent on grading back into your pocket.
