While I was reading a thread on this forum I was struck about the beauty of certain foreign coins and was wondering if there were any pitfalls or traps of dealing with the issuing mints of other countries. I subscribe to a newletter that highlights new issues from foreign (non-US) mints and while I would like to attempt to purchase these coins am concerned about international shipping, fulfillment times, forms of payments accepted (in my case it would probably be MC/Visa), and of course language difficullties (especially if you don't speak the language). Is there anything a new interested individual could do to test the waters so to speak? Any advice would be welcomed. Thanks.............
It should not be a problem. Here is a link to the Canadian mint. http://www.mint.ca/ Here is the mint in Mexico City. http://www.cmm.gob.mx/Ingles/Introduction.html
There appears to be only one english language page on the Mexican mint's page. This is what I was referring to about a problem in trying to purchase coins from other countries without knowing the local language.
Note that the Canadian Mint will only ship selected coins to addresses outside Canada. The Mexican Mint (the address in the capital is just a sales office) does not sell coins to individual customers. Christian
