A guy contacted CoinQuest with a question about this coin:

    1866
    PUEBLOS UNIDOS AMERICANOS
    LIBERTAD JUSTICIA
    MEDIO PESO

As far as I can tell, this is a fantasy token of some kind. But I am not sure. What do you think? And what/how/who is PUEBLOS UNIDOS AMERICANOS? Hmmm ...

    Thanks.

Yes, it is a fantasy coin. Mind you, not my fantasy.

Probably made for the Native American and Mestizo politicos that promote the pre-Colombian Aztlan concept. A kind of unity idealism against or counter to the former Spanish rulers and or modern American Anglo yolk.

I found several items similar to this one on the internet, most dated 1863.

Possibly a fantasy inspired by Mexico's Maximilian period.

Interestingly enough, some of the sale listings stated that the items were gold.

    :)
