The local shop has had this for a while. I can't i.d. it. Anyone have a good guess, beyond Ptolemy[?] tetradrachm? To make it a challenge (not intentionally) I'll post an awful pic, and of just one side. Thanks
Hmm. I'm no expert but this looks like a fun exercise. There is anE in the left field... can't tell if there any letters in front of it... so the regnal year is either 5, 15, or 25. ΠA in left field. The usual BAΣIΛEWS (presumably with PTOLEMAIOU) worn or off the flan on the left. Big eagle/crowded flan, which seems more like the later issues (Ptolemy IX and later). My best guess is Ptolemy XII, RY 15 (looks more like an I than an L to the immediate left of the E). Edited: correction, I think that is an Θ in the left field, so RY 19.
Thanks Honestly I thought it was an E from the pic at first too. I went to the coin shop a few minutes ago, but I didn't grab a better look at it, as it was burried under other coins lol somewhere in the shop.
