A friend of mine came to visit this weekend and brought with him a huge container of change which we excited to go through. It had been his uncle's or granduncle's, something like that.
So we went through it all. We went through $83 of quarters, $40 in dimes, $20 in nickels, and $10 in cents. Over 2,000 coins.

We found one (1) 1945 Wheat Cent. And it's in bad shape. No silver quarters, no silver dimes, no war nickels, no errors, no wide AMs, nothin.

The only find worth noting (unless you consider the '45 wheatie worthy), was a 2000 Lincoln cent that has some FREAKY COOL artificial toning. It just looks awesome. So there's a pic below for that.

However, I recently bought a Franklin '63 Proof, and would like your opinions on it. What would you grade it? What would you pay for it. If you wouldn't pay for it, then how much would expect one to pay for it?? lol. Thanks for any input!

I'd probably pay $6-7 for the Franklin. You can buy the whole proof set for $13-$14 if you look around. Then you've got a silver quarter and silver dime, plus the proof cent and nickel.

The Franklin proof i would grade it a PRF67 as far as the price you could probably sell it on ebay raw for about 10 to 15 bucks since it is listed in PCGS as 50 bucks in PRF 67

. When you sell them individually instead of the full proof set you can get more for each coin if you break the proof sets up ,and sell them individually on ebay. I have done it myself infact.

The cent is definetly artificial toning ,but a cool toned coin i don't think there would be a true value on that coin since it was tampered with
    but a keeper.

I've accidentally accomplished that kind of toning with a run through the washer, dryer and some dryer sheet action. Came out looking like a rainbow threw up on it. I'd have to see the proof in hand to really grade it but it looks to be better than PF-63 at the least.

hmmm, little lower than I'd hoped on the Franklin, but I like it anyway.

Thanks for the grade, Jazzcoins Joe!

lol BQ, that's exactly what I was thinking when I saw this one--that a rainbow had let loose on it.

I was just curious i see some kind of abnormality on the obverse of the coin i indicated it in red. I don't know if it's your camera shot or on the coin itself ,but it looks interesting to me I would try and look at the coin with a loupe and see .

  10. that 'abnormality' we discovered was only a scratch on the plastic holder. fortunately, not on the coin :)

yep, that's just a scratch on the 2x2, luckily not the coin = ) the little black spot on the rim at about 7:00 is part of the holder as well.
