Proofs or just uncirculated?

    Dear all,

I got these three coins for free (story below).

I can’t tell if they are proofs or merely uncirculated -in the case of the two Canadian coins. The buffalo is definitely circulated (obviously) , but I am wondering if it may also be a proof, since the engraving on the coin seems to ‘stand out’ somewhat. At least to my untrained European eye. Some white spots on the coins are lint/cotton fibres. I took pics from two angles of the 50c coin.
Also – are they worth anything?

    Finally the buffalo:

I went into a numismatic store in Germany a couple of days ago, intent on buying some old silver coins (which I did). I asked about a box of unsorted modern coins that was lying on the table, the guy in the store said I can have three for free given I already purchased other coins. These three were in the box and I picked them out – the Canadian ones are either wholly uncirculated or proof coins, but can’t tell since I am a noob in that field.

    Thank you,

    Alex

The pair of Canadian coin you posted appear to be proof coins issued as part of a set. However, the buffalo nickel is simply a circulated business strike exhibiting normal wear.

My thoughts as well - the Canadians look to be proof & the buffalo is a keeper but not proof

Very nice looking Canadians. To my eye they certainly look like a proof strike.
The Buffalo on the other hand looks like its been harshly cleaned. I'm sure someone with more experience will chime in.

Yes, Canadian proofs, they got that frosted appearance. My avatar is one as well and I have dilly of a time photographing it as well as my others. Nice pics, nice coins.

Both Canadian coins are proofs. The Buffalo is a circulation strike.
