I have Dansco Albums for several coin series that I'm collecting, and there are ports in the pages for proof coins. I'd like to have my complete set all stored together in one album, but I'm conflicted over the idea of cracking proof coins out of the OGP and possibly damaging them or decreasing their value to put them into album pages. Uncirculated coins too, that are only available in mint sets, like the 1970-D Kennedy. I'd love to hear other thoughts or ideas about this.
Unless you know for sure that the proofs will grade 70 (CAM or UCAM) I see nothing wrong with removing the coins to put them in an album. The Mint cases are not that hard to open. As for Uncirculated Mint sets, if a coin won't grade MS68 to MS70, then there is little point of keeping the set intact. Historically, most proof and mint sets have rarely increased that much in value to justify keeping them in the OGP. Chris
The other alternative is to get the albums that don't include proofs, allowing you to fill your albums while keeping proof sets intact.
