    image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg Hello all,

I have a 1961 proof quarter and I noticed something odd today. When looking at it under a loupe there are what looks to be a bunch of tiny lines radiating outward from the portrait. I will try to post some pictures. Basically I wanted to know if these are scratches from handling or just part of a normal proof.

    Thanks much,

    Ryan

We'd really need to see a photo to answer your question. It could be several things.

    Camarodmd,

Do the added photos help at all?

After doing some reading, you appear to be right. Thank you both for your help!

I usually refer to those lines as Silver Blast as they occur with some frequency on Silver Proofs. They plague Eisenhower Silver Proofs and are ever present on current silver proof US Mint Offerings.
