He everyone, I just picked up a NCS Proof Seated Dime Artifically Toned. I wanted your opinions on do you think if I dipped it or used some ms70 on it may do something or leave it alone. I don't know if by dipping it, it may show hidden hairlines that I can't see. I was able to dip a 3 cent silver proof and got it in a PCGS 63 Cameo. Has anyone ever tried it? LMK

Please leave it alone. It was struck as a proof, well over 100 years ago, and it's already been badly treated enough.

Do you really care what kind of plastic it sits in, and at what grade? I mean...if you're just chasing a profit (perhaps obtained "dishonestly", but I am not passing judgment), then give it a shot. But, as a numismatist, in favor of preserving history, I don't think it should be messed with.

NCS is the only way I would go with that coin (other than leaving it alone). If you attempt anything you may damage it. NCS has lots of experience with coins with AT and are less likely to leave you with a ruined mess. Remember there is always the chance (as you noted) the conservation will uncover hidden damage.
