I was under the impression that starting in 1992, there are Silver Proof Half dollars. What I am confused about is I see both 40% silver and 90% silver 2005 half dollars for example. Yet the Dansco's only have one spot for silver halves. Are there 2 "weights" of silver coins for all those years? Thanks, Erin
there is only 1 spot for silver because any date above 1992 the Kennedy half dollar was 90% silver. Like state quarter guy said 65 - 70 and 76 they were 40% silver. Now 1964 Kennedy is 90% silver. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kennedy_half_dollar
If you're seein' 40% Kennedy's after '92 then I want to buy in , 'cause that's gotta be one heck of a rarity.... Maybe seein' double?
Hey guys, I thought that too but here is part of an EBAY ad and I have seen several. 2005 Gem Proof Kennedy Silver Half Dollar U.S. Coin. (40% SILVER)! You are bidding on a 2005 Proof Kennedy Silver Half Dollar. Sorry about the photo if it looks a little off. I need to invest in a scanner. The coin is Gem Proof, shinning with brilliance!! Awesome coin!! Super Nice Coin!! I Do Provide Shipping Discounts On Multiple Auction Wins. PLEASE CHECK OUT MY OTHER AUCTIONS! THANKS!! Now the thing that made me look into it is I picked up 4 Silver Proof Kennedy Halves. Three of them look amazing and "white" as can be. The 4th one has a slight "copper" tone to ites edges as if it were clad. Any thoughts? Erin td.a {text-align:center;}a {text-decoration:none;}img {border-style:none;}
