have never shown this coin on here before. i got this 1971S ike dollar at a flea market a while back. it only cost me $4.50 for it. it is silver also. just thought i'd show it off!
they did the 40% silver on the S-mint stuff sold to collectors, think that ended in 1976 off the top off my head. This one is junk silver money, so no loss, I just don't like it.
the spots on the coin is on the 2X2 that it is in. and scanning it really makes a difference. they only made silver ikes 1971-1975 and only the S mintmark. it is not a perfect proof, but its still silver and neat to look at!:kewl:
I remember all the process and debate leading up to the creation of Ike dollars. I was an avid coin collector in those days. After Eisenhower's death, the idea of resuming dollar coins promptly jumped up. For quite some time, Coin World covered all the congressional debate on the topic. The final vote was like 432-3 in favor. I'll always remember my first one...
