I am looking to fully complete my Mercury dime set by including the proof versions. I came across a dealer selling a 1939 PCGS PR67 CAC for $500 and a 1941 PCGS PR67 for $425. $925 total shipped. I have looked at the following sites and got the following auction results and prices. 1939 PR67 Dealer Price $500 ... 941 PR67 old holder Dealer Price $425 Numismedia $456 ........ Numismedia $388 Teletrade avg. $506 ..... Teletrade avg. $390 Heritage avg. $380 ... .. Heritage avg. $352 Coinworld Coinvalues $500 for PR66 ... Coinworld Coinvalues $400 for PR66 PCGS price guide $600 ........ PCGS price guide $500 I tend to think the PCGS price guide is a bit inflated... but as for the others how can someone be sure that they are geting a "fair" deal and what the coin market is actually doing? The heritage auctions are showing sometimes around $100 less than teletrade and other guides. It the greysheet he best bet? HELP!
Each coin, even if graded the same by the same company, is going to bring a different price. All any of the guides can do is give you a feel, a range, for what a given coin in a given grade is going to sell for. After that, it's up to you to decide how much is too much.
