I was channel surfing and found a company called Unique Shopping that seemed to be a small time outfit but was interesting to watch. They do not have a web site and when I called in to make a bid I heard a lady call out (over the TV while I was on the phone), Georgia Bob bids $425 for the 1926-S S$1 MS65. The coin was shown in what looked like a PCGS slab but the top part of the slab was cut out of the TV screen. As the price went up I called back and bid $505 and then I asked the lady who graded the coin and she said, Progressive Coin Graders. I told her that I only collect PCGS or NGC and they should show the whole slab. Much to my relief someone over bid me and the coin went for $525. Has anyone every heard of this coin grading service? I serached this site and the web but was unsucessful of finding out anything.
always: Nope, never heard of them, they are another of the alphabet soup of new graders. Punt on them, along with SGS and the others.
Unique's worth a laugh or two. That guy makes a fool of himself every Friday night. Once in a while if he lets callers set the opening bid, I'll offer about 80% of melt on their double eagles so he HAS to beg for more bids before he can move on..
I love the way the alphabet slabbers start the name of with a P to generate confusion. Perhaps Pitiful Coin Grading Service is in the works for me cuz HEY! - it's PCGS!
