Everyone has them so why not make a "show some problem coins love" thread. Sometimes the only way you can own a certian coin is by buying a problem coin.

Here is one that came across my desk today.

Do you have any interesting problem coins?

My definition of a problem coin , is one that I can't re-sell for whatever I paid for it . haha That does not happen often , but it has on occasion .:( But to be serious, I don't own any coins that could be considered a problem coin.

Those rims or lack of , and that ding dong , oh my.

I have had a few and probably still do in my bust half album or large cent album. As it is that one still has good detail.

I agree. There's nothing wrong with owning them. There are many collectors who collect nothing but lower or problem coins as they can hold without having to worry about damaging it or lowering the value of them.

The OP's coin is beautiful and I wouldn't mind owning one myself.

I have plenty of ancients that most other collector's wouldn't touch. I'm actually fine with a coin that's broken as long as what's left is interesting to me. Below are some of my favorite problematic coins:

I can't post a pic tonite, but I have a 1878 British Sixpence that is holed, scratched with initials (lover to lover gift ?) and is just a piece of junk. But I am really fond of that coin. Finding it here in America, holed and reamed with skill, but the initials carved very crudely with a Penknife ? That coin has a story, just needs a little imagination.
