Probably post mint damage - strange half dollar

    Not sure exactly what you are pointing out but it does look cleaned and maybe polished to me from the photos.

    It could be a struck through. Probably grease.

    If the "problem" is the uneven strike - strong on the right side and weak on the left, that's the most likely cause.
    I would agree if the coin were out of round on the left side, but I really don't see how design elements could be selectively flattened without distorting the shape.

    It's post mint, extreme wear. We sometimes refer to these as "pocket pieces". Some people finger them Kinda like "worry beads" and they wear severely.
