Can anyone recommend an insurer of coins against fire and theft for a personal collection and/or for coins in transit following sales?
DEFINITELY join the ANA first. I'm not even sure if they'll insure your coins if you are not a member. I also had my stamp collection insured by them and when I decided to not renew my APS membership Hugh Wood notified me that they would no longer cover my collection.
I've insured with Hugh Wood for years. Nice folks and very flexible. I make adjustments annually to account for coins in excess of $10k (they need to be cited separately) and over all insurance coverage. Highly recommend. Lance.
Good point. They also have limits to gold and silver bullion. They also do online quotes. They make it really easy.
