They are seriously cashing in on this "Royal Birth" subject. First the "Royal Birth" silver coin and gold issues, then some more affordable "ultimate set" coins, and now this Christening line of issues. Man, the Royal Mint is beating this topic to death.

I purchased the "Royal Birth" 5 pound coin with Pistrucci's St. George back in August -- And, I'm glad it has no direct reference to Prince George. Beyond that, I don't see any need to buy every numismatic trinket that the Royal Mint produces. I'm sorry, but "more is not better" when it comes to chugging out coin designs. I personally think this design is pretty poor, and would have made many different decisions, even with regard to simple things like typeface.

    Oh well... :(

They pretty much always have in one way or another, going back for centuries. For them it seems to be tradition. Not that I disagree with your comment.

It's a road that we've been down before, several times. So far it's always had the same result - eventually people get fed up with it.
