Okay so far the only place i know of to get prices is red book. From what i have heard however is that the red book prices can be pretty off. Is there anywhere you know of that would provide reliable prices? SOrry i am new to the whole hobby and am having trouble finding a reliable source. I would prefer to know how much something is worth before i pay way to much for something

Well what I do is look at recent pieces that have sold using eBay's completed listings and Heritage Auction Archives.
I also look on the Heritage Auction Page of a certain item as it gives you population reports and retail values and wholesale values.

For full retail value of coins graded by NGC or PCGS the price guides used are Numismedia's and PCGS's.

I use a combination of everything above to find out the right price to pay.

What kind of coins are you looking to price? Graded/Ungraded? Series?

Tmoneyeagles suggested the main places, I'd also suggest Teletrade's Price Guide.

I use Coins magazine. Their prices are pretty accurate and change monthy with the current market.

thanks for all the help guys i really do appreciate it. Also, i am planning on going to the FUN show in orlando and i would like to pick up some flying eagle cents as i find the coin very interesting can anyone give me some good links to pricing for them because i would hate to overpay for them. Sorry to ask for the links but the sheer ammount of information i have been gaining about the hobby is a little overwhelming

Go to different dealers in your area and check out there prices then look on line to see which is the most accurate for your needs...
