What is going on with $10 Indians? I was thinking of purchasing a MS 64 $10 Indian for my type set. The PCGS price guide went from $3000 to $4750 and the MS 65 went from $6500 to $10000. Other dates have went up as well. That is quite a jump in price. Does anyone have a clue as to why?
I would go and check recent and past archive results at HA and GC. That does seem like a big jump given gold is only up about 5-7% the last few months. Printed price guides -- even online -- can be unreliable at times or skewed by just one outlier sale. I know that cheaper generic commons have moved as people have enterered the space but those seem like big jumps for the coins in question. But not being an expert on Eagles (I'm a Double Eagle guy ), maybe Eagle experts can chime in.
By recent sales on ebay most common 64's are going around $2,000 a little more and less.PCGS e.t.c prices have always been over exaggerated and no where near what most are selling for.
Well I have close to 500 indians maybe I need to post a few of these!! Wonder what their paying for a 1859 MS60?
Wow! I'd love to see some images of your collection. I'm only permitted to drool on my keyboard over any gold coins since I can't afford them.
No wonder the supply is low if you have collected 400 $10 Gold Indian coins, or did I miss something?
I think there is confusion about $10.00 Indian Gold Coins and 400 Indian head pennies. Charles was talking about the Indian pennies, especially since the gold Indians were only produced in the 20th century.
Heck, at first I thought you were talking about Indian CENTS for $10...!!! I'm worse than that "clueless in NY" guy...
Could be since the bullion supplies have created a such a premium many are seeing the numismatic side as a better investment. Times have gotten hard with people wanting to hedge from inflation and the shrinking value of the dollar. Just my two cents.
I’ve been hearing the coin market is extremely hot these days and everything is up. It’s not easy to win anything decent on eBay I will say that. You better bid strong if you want something .
