I know they are common, but can anyone tell me what the ballpark going rate for a PCGS MS 65 and MS66 Morgan 1881s? It's been awhile since I purchased a Morgan and my gray sheet is two years old... Trying to find and build a well struck , authenticated mint state grading set for future reference and enjoyment... at a reasonable cost.
Either I can look it up on Heritage, or you can. But if you do it then you'll how to do it the next time.
I've seen people talking about "grading sets", and I can see their utility for lower grades. But for MS, based on what I've seen in the grading contests here, you'd need a dozen examples of each numeric grade to get a good sense of what passes and what doesn't. I remember a few cases where there were coins two or three points apart, and I couldn't even be sure which would get the higher grade.
