These two series will end in 2016 (according to the wikipedia articles). Has there been any news about a replacement series?

What kind of series would you like to see made. I would love a Lady Liberty series where they recreate the classic liberty coins and then follow up with new designs.

I would also like to see a Founding Fathers who were not presidents series. It could include people who signed the Declaration of Independence.

    What say you?

Once the Presidents, and I suppose the NA dollar, but it's legislation does not specify a termination date, ends then all the dollars go back to the Sacagawea design

Title 31 Section 5112 (n) (9)Reversion to preceding design.— Upon the termination of the issuance of coins under this subsection, the design of all $1 coins shall revert to the so-called “Sacagawea-design” $1 coins.

So after 2017 we should see either the continuation of the NA dollars or a return of the Sac dollars.

I'm glad to hear the Sac dollars will continue, I like those. I hope they continue the Native American designs.

I did not read the whole title and thought "they are discontinuing the penny? yes!" then I read the title.

my opinion: I think that the best thing to do would be to get rid of the $1 bill, and make it a coin. and maybe not have a face on the coin for once. lets do something different.
