    Hi!
I am a new poster though have read through and gained alot from this site as I restarted collecting coins last year (a 15 year break due to life). Question about Presidential Dollar, Buchanan. I have seen and have a few normal edge lettering errors (missing and weak/half on). But I have one that makes date wrong. It is printed as - "201P" , one star (not 3) that is merged with "E", then "Pluribus Unum" (normal) , then 11 stars (not 10). I cannot find any listing or posting with similar error. Has anyone ever seen something like this and if not, would it be considered a date error which i could only find one similar error (the presidential dollar that got stuck and printed following year with other coins). And this does not appear to be a damage caused by another coin as the P would be a mirror image.

I am curious if anyone have any idea or knowledge about this type of error.

I believe the lettering was applied twice.. Which would cause it to look overlapped in some places. It's a common occurrence.

I have double edge lettering coins, but this is like the edge print was done once. As the 0 was to be print, somehow it skipped to P for the mint code, then muliple star stamps within short distance overlapping the E, then continues like no problem, then the 11 stars (one faint). Then abnormal space of no edge lettering. So its not double where it went thru twice. I just never found a single edge lettering where it was messed up like this during a single edge lettering. All other lettering is clear. No other signs of double edge lettering, which should have been present.
