Hi, i noticed that many collectors shun the presidential dollars because of the high mintages. But one thing that i have noticed from searching rolls, there are few cherry coins per roll. Some rolls i have only found one cherry coin, the rest were severely marked(Strings rolls). A very low percentage ever make it into my direct fit airtite holders. Just about every roll yields the same so far. When i first started searching the rolls i assumed i would find about 7-10 cherry coins per roll, thats sure not the case so far! The mintages may be high, but the ratio of quality coins seems very low(most are a marked up mess). Usually a roll yields about one or two cherry coins, with around seven slightly marked coins(The balance severely marked). Are you finding the same results? Has anyone here searched the mint wrapped rolls? Any better results with those?

Pretty much the same results with me "AU". As for the mint wrapped rolls I couldn't tell you...I buy one D and P for each president and sock 'em away.

Same here also, it is very hard to find more then one from a roll that is not marked. I look through 5 or 10 rolls of each P and D s then save 2 rolls of each that are unopened for the future.

Same here. It took 2 [String] rolls of the Monroe P to find one good coin.
Not sure about where this series is going as far as values. Seems like everyone who wants to is already collecting them. So like the States Quarters is it really worth saving rolls? Who will buy them? Let's figure if I saved one P and one D roll of each Pres. so far that's $250 tied up earning no interest.

I don't know why everyone thinks that. It has never been the case. Back in 86 I got my hands on a unopened bag of bicentennial half dollars. I went through that bag and put together ONE roll of very nice coins. That's 20 coins out of 2000. Coins in bags and rolls are intended for circulation and NO special care is taken with them to ty and insure they are nice. If you ever have a chance to really watch how coin are produced, checked for errors, counted and bagged, you would wonder how so many coins look as nice as they do.

And usually reports from people who search the mint wrapped rolls say that the coins in those rolls are usually no better or even WORSE than the bank rolls

bank roll and mint roll are the same bad quality. future prices for those rolls will be face value. and you have to spend shipping charges to sell it. just like the mint doing now.
