anyone used the presidential dollars for any purchases yet? what were the people reaction? this topic may also be used for posting your stories of "unusual" currency/coins put to use.

i've shown the new coins to some family members and they all thought it was a "neat" coin.

Good post... I was just getting ready to post something simmilar, till I seen this....

Last week, I finally got a few rolls from my bank... I actually like using Dollar Coins....

The vending machine at our office takes them... I never thought of that till today... Tried it and it worked..

Also, there is a Subway resturant, right next to my ofifce and latley I have been getting either a 12 "Veggie Delite sandwich or a Veggie Delite Salad, either way it comes out to $4.90... So I give'em 5 George Coins and I get a dime back...

Just using it for lunch, a roll will last me all week... So once a month I'll go to the bank and get 4 rolls...

I'll keep me eating healthy, on a budget and I'll be doing my part to help circulate the new coinage...

The 1st time I went in there, they all kinda freaked out and where like what the H#LL kinda money is this na d all three of the cashier ladies had to gawk at the dollars and ask where I got'em...

They alway look st them weird at my local QT too...

My wife says, I can't believe your sending them, their too cute....:desk:

    Any others????

At my local McDonald's, one of the employees enjoys my coming in with dollar coins and $2 bills. We always talk about currency. He likes the new coins. My bosses hate them, tell me I can't spend anything but "real money" at work (that's coins only quarter and below, and bills 1, 5, 10, 20, etc). The waitresses where I eat love them, and overall, experiences have been good.

One time I was at subway with a $10 purchase. 5, 2, 1, dollar coin, two halves. The cashier thought I was nuts, and never gave any of it out as change.

Had one in my pocket along with some loose change. I wanted to show it to a friend of mine who runs a small store. Reached in my pocket several times before i got the dollar instead of pulling out a quarter. He talked me out of it as more of a curiosity. Hated to let him have it as these things are hard to get around here for now. trying to be a good citizen, I decided to do my small part to circulate them. Now i undersand that this little batch may have had some mint errors. No more mr. nice guy for me. lol

    hamman88 Spare some change, sir?

I tried to spend some but no one believed that they were real. I asked them why anyonw would bother to make fake dollars, but they ignored me.

That looks like a pretty cool error.

I already had a reputation about spending modern kennedies and dateless buffaloes so my first 2 purchases at work didnt freak too many people out.

Now, I dont know how much of what I have spent has returned in change....but I am trying

I can get almost as many rolls as I want from my bank PNC But it is not like the quarters 40 for 10.00 I have gotten 8 rolls already very expensive and will spend the ones that are not worth keeping. This is only the first Pres we will be broke in a couple years LOL

Its not really any more expensive, its 25 for 25 dollars...

If you are going to spend the Money anyways, its not big deal...

Example, I usually spend 5 dollars a day at either Subway or Pizzahut... With that said a Roll will last me a week... I'm going to send the money anyways, might as well enjoy it...

So I get 4 rolls a month and I'm covered...

Maybe, only keep one or two that are really nice per roll
