Presentation case contained PVC?

    what is the strong smell coming out from the box?. when you open the mint box for 20th anniversary 3 pc silver coins, smell coming out?. it is contained any PVC or other chemicals? can it affects the coins inside?. anyone knows or noticed it?. thanks.

    It's plastic, so if course it is full of chemicals, not to mention the adhesives used.

    Not sure on the ramifications.

    The US Mint uses inert plastic holders for their coins - no PVC.

    chemicals?.

    do you have 20th anniversary silver 3 coin set?. so what is that smell?. bought so many years from u.s. mint. never have smell from the boxes.

    Sorry I don't. I have no idea what the smell could be, it could easily be something that has nothing whatsoever to do with the coins or the packaging. Could be something was spilt on it during shipping.

    three boxes shipped to different places. all boxes have strong smell. i think it was the presentation case. no wonder. the mint did not insert those coins tightly to the hole. it might be pvc or other chemicals. it might damaged the coins in the long run. it might destroyed the whole 250,000 reverse silver proof.

    why silver proof set coins changes its color to reddish?

    some of my silver proof set coins dated year 2000 changed its color to reddish. specially the reverse side. all coins changed reddish color. will it be pvc affected my coins?. does anyone see their coins like this?. tell me why?.

    My 20th set box still smells after a year. I think the chemical may be in the box construction as the coins were removed from the case an no longer smell, just the box.
