I have kicked around what I want to collect in 2010 since practically the beginning of 2009. I'll be finished with the Buffalo Nickels in a few more months, so here is my current plan subject to change at any given time until I start on something then it will be seen through to completion. I'm planning on doing a variety set of the Seated Liberty Quarter. I have read up on what this would consist of. It takes seven or eight of these to do it. The last one is a repeat, but it is post variety #7. I think I'll go for the eight, keep it in even numbers, and at least one with a CC and O mintmarks. I've done a little reading on the coin's history so far. I've read a couple of articles on Thomas Sully (he was the man in his day) and Christian Gobrecht. I didn't realize they were so popular in their day, and it is speculated their popularity resulted in the trade dollar being seated also when done by Gobrecht. By the time I get these done Mateo should be finished with his 20th Century Type Set and committed his information and grading on the BF Half Dollar to memory. Once this is done my actual collecting days will be about over. I do plan on going back through my entire collection and attempt to do any upgrades I feel is necessary, do a small amount of work on IHCs, and work on educating my son. We may end up educating each other, but that is okay too. How did I come about picking the Seated Liberty I'm sure all of you are wondering and on the edge of your seats at this point. Actually I read a post Lehigh made stating he didn't care for them. I knew what they are, but never checked them out much. So out of curiosity I started looking at them, and I'm actually quite impressed with them. It's a good thing we all don't to collect the same coins. Recently Mateo (my son by the way for those of you who don't know) got all of the family's collection out and set them out. We called it our first family coin collection show and only invited the family (all five of us). It consisted of a little over 550 coins. State quarters, Roosevelt dimes, aand Memorial cents make up the bulk of it, so I won't be quittting my night shift job if I would sell them all. It took us a couple of hours to set up properly, and we were going to videotape the collection. Low and behold the video camera battery wouldn't take a charge. We still had fun with it, and my wife was quite impressed with it and how much Mateo had learned. We are thinking about doing it again next year if we have a family reunion. I'm certainly up to anyone posting any of their ideas on any type of sets like I mentioned in another series. This is not locked in concrete yet.

It was a lot of fun. That is why we may drag them all out again if we have a reunion. My wife was amazed at how large the collection had become over the years. To be honest so was I, it took a lot of space to display them all.
i will spend halve of what rickieb does and hopefully have a beach house and a girlfriend!!!:mouth: p.s and my wife might never find out!!:headbang:
Sounds like you have things well planned out. If the coins I need for my set don't show up in the next year or so I may consider starting a CC Type set (Dime, Twenty Cent, Quarter, Half Dollar, Dollar, Half Eagle, Eagle and Double Eagle). It would be nice if there is a year without any stoppers but since the twenty cent piece is a realistically only a one year type I think the dates will have to be spread out a bit.
