I just looked up the results from my last submission to PCGS nd a few of the $1 goldies I sent in got the grade PR95 and PR98. I have never heard of any thing going over MS70 and PR70. Am I missing something here?
No, I don't think so, something would be missing if you got a grade above MS-70 or PR-70. Especially since that is considered to be perfect! Oops, I forgot about SGS!
Frank im sorry, I think you just made me more confused. So are you saying that some thing is missing from the coins that are pr95 and 98?
Okay, Uncs & proofs are graded frmo Unc-60 (or Pr-60) The lowest grade before that are circulated, up to MS-70 and PR-70, with each number in between. There is no number above 70.
This just in. i found out what the PR98 and 95s are, they are in PCGS opionion coins they will not grade. Thats it for me,. I am not ever useing PCGS ever again. This is the last time I bother dealling with those con artists. I bet anything If i send the same coins to NGS or anacs they would slab them.
Nope, not a typo. That means the coins had problems. The PR is there by default, and the numbers 95 or 98 are codes for certain problems. Edit: You beat me to it. You can submit to ANACS or NCS, they will slab anything except PVC coins or counterfeits.
Nathan: I GOT IT!!! Instinctively I did not notice that you were saying Proof-95 and Proof-98! Sorry about that. Well, as they say: There ain't no such thing, in MS or Proof. It must be a typo.
seeker, Honestly in so many ways it a con. But then again in some ways its good thing. You have to be picky about what and to whom you send your coins to be slabbed.
Lmao. I love the new site. Nice work Nathan. I know someone who knows how to express their feelings quite well. Tom
As long as pcgs dosnt sue him, They are one of the TPGS known for draging people into court for talking bad about them. Which I might add is so weak of them.
This is the only post I will make on this - not even sure if I will come back and read any additional responses. Why just slam PCGS(not directed to anyone) ? I could slam all three and I would not be suprised if ngcsucks.com and anacssucks.com gets started. All top tier graders have their issues. Any coin can be body bagged or rejected by any grading company. I even read one auction on ebay that called the coins PCI rejects. So even if another company grades problem coins it does not matter. As collectors you buy the coin not the slab. So even in a NGC slab it could still be a problem coin. It seems like most people send there coins to PCGS to try to score the big grade and the bucks that come with them. IF not then why didn't you just use NGC or ANACS, or any of the others to start with. I really think it is funny when any of the grading companies get slammed just because someone did not get the grade they expected or wanted. Again - everyone makes mistakes - yet the public is unforgiving to all graders and the mint. Nobody stops to think - when I bought this raw coin I made the mistake. Oh well - I know I have made a few and some on purpose. I have bought cleaned and one polished coin just because I like the details on the coin. My father is so intent on joining PCGS and sending in some of his morgans. He understands that PCGS might think all of them have some problems and can be body bagged. We are going to sit down and go over all of them to pick out the best - comparing to the ones already graded. I am trying to put it off - I think he has some nice raw morgans, but still no telling what PCGS will do. Here is one auction where ANACS blew chunks and here is one where NGC blew chunks. I think ANACS missed that big old nick on the rim and NGC just flat out over-graded that shield nickel. IMHO - I disagree with both coins grades. So whats the big deal! Just my own opinion and a rant for today. Happy new year!
Mark: Is was nothing personal for PCGS, just in case you read this. I think that most people are disgusted with the quality of all of the big three (or four) TPG'ers. The inconsistancy of the grading is pretty crummy for the collector, and no one is innocent. It is just that PCGS got the 1st web site honoring their achievements. No one doubts that all three have their faults. Just a thought, why post something and then not come back to see what others' opinions are? That is not fair, obviously you read their thoughts, stated your case and then no one can argue with you? Unless you own stock in PCGS why are you insulted? And if you do own stock in PCGS, why not be honest and say so? Sorry, but that's my opinion, and I may not read your response. (Actually I will, since I care what others think. Even when they are as sarcastic as I am.)
You are right on that - my apologies to all, that was just darn rude. And yes everyones opinion is interesting. I really knew I would come back - what I did not want to do is get into a "opinion" debate. Just wanted to state an opinion(did I or did I just rant?) - and now to work on my father so I do not have to listen to him rant if his coins do not come back at what he thinks they should. Boy it did sound a little sarcastic when it was not suppose to be - just a rant. Since I am single and watching football nobody else was around. I think what was "irking" me a bit was all the ebay auctions - candidate for upgrade, pcgs lists the price at 5k at ms65, etc., etc. And some of the sellers state they dislike any grading company - so it makes me wonder. So I was just ranting at nobody in particular.
