Folks have said all I seem to post are Colonials... so I decided I'd post some more "modern" stuff... To start, here's an 1865 2-cent piece via axial lighting... Who else has 2-cent pieces to share...?
no offense, but that coin doesn't seem to have a "copper" color. the pic looks too grey to me. then again, what do i know? this was just my opinion. but i like the coin otherwise! :thumb::thumb:
I've got a full set of business strikes. They're in an NGC Registry Set. If I can figure out how to post the link (or if someone can tell me) I'll do so. I believe NGC has a slide show setup for this sort of thing.
Let's see if this works: http://coins.www.collectors-society.com/registry/coins/SetSlideshow.aspx?PeopleSetID=89448 Okay, it appears to.
I kind of like Two Cent Pieces myself. Here's a few. 1864 Small Motto http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x275/clembo1872/smo.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x275/clembo1872/smr.jpg 1864 Large motto http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x275/clembo1872/lmo.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x275/clembo1872/lmr.jpg 1865 http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x275/clembo1872/65o.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x275/clembo1872/65r.jpg 1866 http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x275/clembo1872/66o.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x275/clembo1872/66r-1.jpg
Here's a few more. 1867 http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x275/clembo1872/67o.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x275/clembo1872/67r.jpg 1868 http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x275/clembo1872/68o.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x275/clembo1872/68r.jpg 1869 http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x275/clembo1872/69o.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x275/clembo1872/69r.jpg
Great stuff there guys, love those 2 centers. Link to NGC gallery.... Proof Strikes http://coins.www.collectors-society.com/registry/coins/SetGallery.aspx?PeopleSetID=89612 Circulation Strikes http://coins.www.collectors-society.com/registry/coins/SetGallery.aspx?PeopleSetID=90356
...and a few more. 1870 http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x275/clembo1872/70o-1.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x275/clembo1872/70r-1.jpg 1871 http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x275/clembo1872/71o.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x275/clembo1872/71r.jpg 1872 http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x275/clembo1872/722o.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x275/clembo1872/722r.jpg Another 1872 http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x275/clembo1872/721r.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x275/clembo1872/721o.jpg Okay, Maybe I'm a bit obsessed. I've begun slabbing some of the lower grade stuff. Recently sent 2 Small Mottos and an 1872 to NGC. Small mottos came back VG10 and F12. The 72 came back a VG and a "gift" in my opinion. G6 to me on a good day. Last week I cracked an XF45 Small Motto and XF45 1872 out of PCI holders and they went to NGC as well. I figure the Small Motto will cross over no problem and the 72 may drop to an XF40 When I'm done slabbing the Small Mottos and 1872s I'll concentrate on the coins pictured. Gonna be a while.
Thanks PG. Yours aren't exactly shabby! Not into proofs but after looking at yours may just pick one up someday to say I have one. Nice coins from EVERYONE that has posted here.
I've seen some good buys go past on proofs. Proofs are a bit different from circulation strikes, in that the 1864 quantity minted is estimated at 100, the lowest of the entire series. I'd advise anyone looking for a proof to look for the 1870 to 1872's due to their higher mintage. Keep in mind that Kliman estimates survival at 62.5%.
Nice coins, guys. Here is one for you variety collectors. It's an old picture taken prior to NCS makeover.
