Postal scale suggestions?

  1. Anyone have any suggestions for a digital postal scale to weigh smaller packages to determine postage for eBay sales? Thanks, TC

I signed up for stamps.com one of those times they had a promotion that included a digital scale. Cancelled the subscription after the 1st month of free postage but got to keep the scale. Even though I don't have an account anymore, it still works to show me weights. I believe it weighs up to 5 lbs, plenty good for my needs selling on eBay.

    definer definitely....! LOL

I use a food grade scale that measures up to 3 lbs, I believe. Works fine for me. Bought it at Walgreens for like 18 bucks.

With a little cooperation from your LCS (who surely has first-class scales), or "maybe" a drugstore pharmacy, you can make and test precision 8, 16, and 32 ounce weights to check your scale from time to time. I use screw-top glass jam jar(s) containing sand. Easy to adjust. I made two 8's for further cross-checking. The pair of 8's should weigh precisely the same as the 16, and the pair of 8's plus the 16 should weigh the same as the 32.

The catch is that the USPS scale may be off, and your 1.95 ounce mini-parcel registers as 2+ ounces. Ouch!
