I thought the denarius was minted after the Quadrigatus? But you seem to have some late 4th century BC denarii that predate my 225 BC quadrigatus. How is that possible? Or were yours from 310-300 BC not considered denarii at the time?
I do have it but I’m not finished reading it yet. It’s not really one of those books you finish in one sitting. But I do know about the heavy denarius pre-reform of 211 BC. Except that was in 211 BC not 310-300 BC. I’m guessing they would’ve called yours a drachma at the time. Rather than a denarius.
No. Harl argues in the first or second chapter that they are Heavy Denarii pre-reform, tariffed at 10 Asses.
