Hello Everyone, I have been on CT for a few months now, I mostly read posts but do not reply to them, so it is understandable if you do not see me around. Anyways, I have been following a recent post where members showed pictured of their ugly "special" looking coins. This inspired me to start a thread. I collect the odd an unusual in currency and below are a few interesting items in my collection. Feel free to post images of your odd-unusual, altered, damaged, coins.
Some coins I might call odd First Off, Welcome to coin talk! Egypt 2 Piastres (1944), New Guinea 1 Shilling 1936, and Morocco 1 Franc (iether 1921 or 1924) only a two year mint and I can not find the date, Great Britain 2 Pence 1838, South Africa 2 1/2 Cents 1961
Wish I had time to take some pics. I have all kinds of token oddities. To list just a few things that they were good for were: 3 1/2 cents, 6 1/4 cents, 12 1/2 cents, 87 1/2 cents, a dollar and 6 cents, 5 chickens, 3 sticks of dynamite, a haircut, a smile, a tune, good luck, and one or two that are not suitable for a family show.
Your Morocco 1 Franc is KM 36.1 the 1921 issue. Neither the 1921 or the 1924 coins have a date on them but the 1921 was struck in Paris and does not have a mintmark or Privy mark (But does say Paris on the coin) and the 1924 was struck in Poissy and also says Paris on the coin but has a thunderbolt privy mark in the empty space at the bottom of the star below the 1 in 1 franc. Your coin does not have the privy mark so it is the Paris Mint and therefore 1921.
A odd one from Liberia with a holo of the Statue of Liberty LOL Then of course there is the Moterbikes from Somalia and how about the Blue titanium coin from Gibralta? or the Gold and silver from Turks & Caicos
If anyone knows Moroccan coins well, could they tell me if the Be is the correct mint mark I have listed for the 2-1/2 Dirhams?

One from England, not unusual but for it's 3 oz size, a monster piece that was the largest monetary thing to ever circulate in the UK:
