I thought this could be fun and maybe challenging. It be the most warn, dirty bent up coin, medal or token it or mint and valuable. This may bring back childhood memories or some good deed that your proud of, anything. You don't have to share any information, that's up to. Just have fun. Mine is when I found and dug up a 1786 New Jersey Colonial Copper while metal detecting. The reason why this coin is important to my soul is, that is when I developed Parkinson's disease. Not to mention I found it across the street from my home at the High School. Second I did a good deed and probably my most valuable coin, when I helped an elder women move some furniture and she gave me a polish coin. 1816 5 Zlotych
This medal was designed by Jules Clement Chaplain for the 1900 Universal Exposition which coincided with the Olympics in Paris, France. Chris
Love that reverse @green18 Think I may have a picture of my most valuable on my computer...Will have to come back to this thread.
A little more than 2 years ago a seller on eBay posted two of the same type of medal. One was a BIN for $39, and the other was an auction starting at $0.99. I snagged the BIN for $39 within 20 minutes of it being posted. The auction went on to close for > $230. It was for the 1983 Paris Mint restrike of the Libertas Americana medal. I was elated when I received the medal in hand. It's huge, and in case of home invasion would work well as a weapon. It pays to know what you're looking at when BINs come along like this! A size comparison for you (vs. a Lincoln cent)
I came up with the "I'm All Right" coin circa 1897. I was stoked when I saw the Antiques Roadshow (you can search for it and watch the video) with a value of $2500 - of course mine sold for MUCH MUCH less - but it was another history lesson on the gold and silver standards. I even did a bit of research on the patent and history of the creator. With the switch in "proper" position, it shows the Gold Standard with the phrase "I'm All Right" supporting McKinley and Roosevelt (Mack and Teddy), and when the switch is inverted it has some nasty comments about Bryan and Stevenson - and if you look at the other side - you see the eagle flashing you with its behind! Neat stuff! Political smut was alive and well long before all of us were ever born!
