Just got a new 1909-VDB with 3 die breaks and a cud, all on reverse. 4 - 10 - 11. Cud also at 4 o'clock on Rev.

 

I recently found another 22D.

 

It was time to upgrade this 1922-D...



...to this one. The strike is much better and the new one is far more attractive to me.

 

I see a die crack at 4:00 but there is no cud.

 

Just a couple of new Woodies. Not the best pics, but they'll do.

For your viewing pleasure. 2005-D circulation strike, as nice as the day I pulled it out of the BU roll 15 years ago! my opinion, a top pop contender then and now and these pics are through the flip. which is unfortunate but all I have at the moment.

 

Also it says "post your lincolns", it doesn't say "eye candy" therefore, I submit my entry to the dog show 1990 P. that's original zinc right there, none of that powdered stuff!

Took a cowardly way of filling the "Memorial Lincoln's" on my 1941 to 1972 Whitman book buy buying someone else's Memorial collection.
Wow I am shocked at the full luster and color of these Memorials. I know they had to be stored from new but they seem beyond MU??
As always my pics are awful and they don't capture the true color.

what years did they start minting a fuller beard on Lincoln?

 

I'm honestly not entirely sure, that beard and hair is really nice on it though but it is a Denver, and I've noticed Denver is generally better overall than Philly. older dies don't strike it so well, so I'm thinking it's an early die state.

ODV-041 (2001-2009) with the enhanced bow tie I believe is this obverse die, but I think ODV-040 (2000) is when they enhanced the lower beard (neckbeard) and bottom lip and they were at their strongest with the Upper beard detail of ODV-035 of 1990 until the lower beard enhancement in 2000 in there, they have kind of let the detail diminish since then though on purpose I think or toned it down. while reworking other parts of the obverse die.

At 2010, he starts looking like he's got razor bumps on his neck again.
it's a nice strike, it's why I posted it, you can see the forehead vein too, imo there's a high level of detail here that's not that common to find. but it might be just a better run in 2005 from Denver. also in my opinion it looks better than whatever PCGS has for picture of MS67-MS68 range far as detail of strike. I think I'd be pusing it expecting a MS-69 but I think it should really get into MS68 or even 68+, if they were being real about it, they have some real dog examples for MS67 that make me wonder why it's even graded that high and it's got the be the strength of the strike outweighing the black spots or linear plating blisters, lol. I dont' do anything because NGC sales on heritage go for less than $100 on MS69, and I have no history of a PCGS graded one above MS67 selling and that also swings wildly from $10-$138. it's not one of those coins that makes me feel ok about the grading fees when I might lose on it.
I think in general the collectors are fine with the satin finish ones, and my thought that the business strikes would have collector values, hasn't materialized yet, and may not.
