A few years ago, Hungary released a series of coins with Shepherd and Hunting Dogs. One of these, the Viszla, caught my eye. My roommate's dog is kind of a mutt, but she has strong characteristics of a Viszla. She is lean, and fast, and barks like a hound. Absolutely adorable and incredibly friendly, with a cinnamon red fur that gave her the name Cinna. Anyways.... the coin bears a striking resemblance to the dog.... It just recently came back from NGC as MS-69. So, post your coins with dogs, post your dogs with coins, post your dogs holding a coin, etc....
I'll never see a thread like this without being reminded of "Drago the Wolf", a furry who landed here with a bold proposal for Famous Dogs Half Dollars. He had a number of very strong enthusiasms. I kind of miss him.
This is coin, not a token, but it has now become quite expensive. I sold a few of these for well under $200 when I was a dealer. Now they can bring several thousand.
I'm not sure if I have any coins with dogs on them, but I have the tokens that used to come from SPCA asking for donations.
Here's an Irish 6 pence and a Canadian dollar. The Norwegian 50 ore from the 60s also has a dog but I don't have a picture available.
I thought y'all would appreciate this cool new medal I won at great collections. Rendered by G.Devreese, a Belgian sculptor/medallist for a Belgian Kennel Club. I have contacted the club which is still in existence with any information they could provide about the medal. The dog looks to be a St. Bernard to me.
