:smile Post ‘em if you got ‘em.

The principality of Liechtenstein is located on the Rhine River between Austria & Switzerland. The small (62 sq. mi. / 160 sq km) country is located on the east side of the river along with Austria. Back in the day, Liechtenstein had a close association with Austria but they had a falling out at WWI.

In 1921 Liechtenstein adopted the coinage of Switzerland and they soon also adopted the Swiss postal service, telecommunications, Customs, etc.

Liechtenstein had a monetary reform a few years later in 1924. The original 100 Heller = 1 Krone was reformed to 100 Rappen = 1 Frank. My 1904 five Kronen is obviously from the original Kronen system.

    Country: Liechtenstein
    Date: 1904
    Denomination: 5 Kronen
    Mintage: 15,000
    Weight: 24 grams
    Composition: .900 Silver
    Condition: Extra Fine

I got this Liechtenstein coin at the FUN show in 2008 & it’s the only example I have. Please post your coins from this little country.

    Very best regards,

Liechtenstein does indeed use the Swiss franc and has very close ties to Switzerland. It is part of the Swiss post code system but has its own postal service, telecom country code etc. And if you insist on a stamp in your passport, you can get one at the tourist info in Vaduz. :)

I have two coins from Liechtenstein but am a lousy coin photographer; here are two pieces like mine. Now these are 50 Fr gold coins; I have the 10 Fr silver pieces (same designs) instead.

By the way, these are the only coins that Liechtenstein has issued in the past twenty years ...

That is nice to know. I occasionally look through current & past passports & reminisce about the places. I've never gone to/through Liechtenstein.
