Hey folks, post some notes with ships on the reverse, preferably US NAVY ships. With the daughter now an officer, I plan on beginning a collection of ship themed coins and notes as long as they fit my budget:smile
you read to fast.......check again Oh, and doing research, I learned that the that the flipside of a note is called " the back ", NOT the reverse
You say you want pics of notes, but are collecting coins and notes. i.e. you do not want pictures of coins?
I did this because there are countless threads on the CU forum, " post coins with ships ", but I have never seen a thread with paper money I'll do a coin thread as well now that you ask , never seen one here on CT.
really? i always refer to it as reverse The only note that comes to mind for US currency is the so called 'Battleship' note. But alas, i do not own one
I know an image of this note has already been posted, but I thought I would include an image of the front. It is a Series 1918 Large Size $2 FRN. It's one of my all time favorites!
@scottishmoney You might be interested to know that the "Panama Girl" vignette was issued on a souvenir card a few years back. There's one posted in the Souvenir Card thread at http://www.cointalk.com/t94663-7/#post876644 I have a couple nice battleship souvenir cards that I'll post. Only one represents an actual issued note, the previously posted $2 FRN. The other shows a vignette of the USS California engraved by the BEP in 1924 and used on Navy honorable discharge certificates.
Incidentally, there a lot of information on the $2 battleship note at this link -- http://www.cointalk.com/t87239/
sweet notes! I never knew there were US navy ships on our currency! this caught my eye since I'm leaving for navy boot camp in July =)
