NEWPS from eBay. 1945 Shilling. Au. (Maybe UNC, but I think that rub in the hair is wear, no?) 1935 3d. 1917 3d. 1928 3d. 1927 1s. Got it for free by helping a friend with an odd job.
It is a so called "maverick" as it really wasn't local in the way it was meant to be issued - The Prince of Wales went on to become King George IV in 1820 so his portrait on the token gave it some validity for circulation. Not so sure the crown had anything to do with approving of it though.
The gaming tokens I see on eBay all the time from the 1700s, are those real? They are all mostly in great condition and go for nothing.
They were made in huge numbers and have a pretty low collector interest - why the prices are bottomed.
